Work experience opportunity - Wellcome Sanger Institute (Sample preparation)

An opportunity for a Year 10/11 student and a Year 12/13 student to join the Sample Preparation team at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, Wellcome Genome Campus.

Year 12/13 student: Monday 11 – Friday 15 August 2025

The opportunity:

Would you like to gain experience in a busy research support laboratory? The Sample Preparation team processes samples destined for DNA sequencing and also check the quality of DNA sequencing libraries prior to sequencing.

This will be an immersive opportunity to join a wet-lab team. You will see and participate (using samples already processed) in assaying the quality of DNA sequencing libraries. There will also be opportunities to view other activities to gain an understanding of how this type of work contributes to the output of the Institute.

Who is this work experience placement for?

Applications are invited from Year 10/11 students, for one place in June and from Year 12/13 students, for one place in August.
