An opportunity to join us as a Production Manager has arisen on a 12 month contract to cover maternity leave.

About the Role:

You will work closely with the members of the Creative Team, the Head of Research & Dialogue, the Head of Science Engagement & Enrichment, and the Connecting Science Program Office. Just as the Wellcome Sanger Institute is a global leader in genomes and biodata research, the Engagement and Society group in Wellcome Connecting Science aims to be a global leader in understanding how to make genuine and meaningful connections between genomics and society. Recognising that both ‘the public’ and ‘scientists’ are heterogeneous groups with multiple communities, interests and values, Engagement and Society will pursue fundamentally new ways to build bridges and create new spaces for interaction around the societal and ethical issues associated with genomics. Creative communication tools such as films, illuminated data, infographics, interactive websites and podcasts will be fundamental to these bridges, and so the Creative Team is fundamental to the group’s work by creating these materials to complement the work of the Research & Dialogue and Science Engagement & Enrichment pillars.

You will be responsible for:

You will oversee all elements of creative workflow, from incoming work requests through to delivery. You will be the main point of contact of the team, responsible for managing communications throughout the client feedback process as well as acting as quality control on new versions of work going out from the Creative Team. You will have line management responsibility over a team of three people and deal with internal organisational departments such as finance, procurement and HR as they regard to the needs of the Creative Team. You will work closely with other senior members of the Engagement & Society Group to represent the interests of the Creative Team within the wider Group environment.

About You:

You are an experienced production or project manager, having managed a team of creatives and/or workflows in a creative agency or in-house creative team of a larger organisation. You are a team orientated leader with excellent communication skills. You are a proven problem solver with a knack for staying calm under pressure and an eye for detail and systematic management of workflows.

Essential Skills:

●    Experience in project or production management
●    Film production experience
●    Work experience post BA/MA
●    Managing a team of creatives, both internal and freelancers
●    Team oriented approach to leadership
●    Proven troubleshooting ability and ability to stay calm under pressure
●    Attention to detail and organisation
●    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
●    Proven experience in financial management, delivering projects on time and on budget

The Engagement and Society programme of Wellcome Connecting Science develop innovative empirical social science research on the social and ethical questions associated with developments in genomics and biodata, with questions of inclusion, equality and social justice at the centre of our work.  Our public programming includes a range of events and activities aimed at a variety of audiences, from schools and young people, to public and community groups.
